Oh, the joys of being a parent! Nothing like being awake all night listening to your kid cough and pretty much having nothing you throw at it work. Sigh. Poor Sam. She appears to have slept through some of the coughing, but I'd venture that Ryan and I tossed and turned for the vast majority of the night. Ryan was originally planning to get up early and head south for the ECTA Spring for the Trails Half Marathon, but that plan was abandoned after a long coughing fit around 11:30 pm. We all awoke exhausted and spent the morning lounging around home. I did get out for my run in the late morning, running down to the river and back. Saw some more trailing arbutus and enjoyed the roar of the river, but to be honest, I was pretty tired out and the run wasn't all that inspired.
After lunch, Ryan headed out for his run and Sam and I made our way over to Wolfe's Neck Farm to check out the animals. There were several cute baby goats in the barn but all the lambs were already out in the field. They are growing fast! On the way home, we stopped at a playground and played for an hour or so. Despite being tired and obviously a bit under the weather with what now appears to just be a cold (cough probably from nasal drip last night?), Sam held up pretty well for most of the day and it was nice to be able to get outside with her for a while this afternoon.
Here's hoping the (slightly stronger but still kid approved) cough medicine kicks in tonight and we all sleep better!
