Late Afternoon Three

This weekend was a big goose egg running-wise. Ryan was gone all weekend for work and with the nasty weather, I just couldn't get out with Sam. We did venture out to Target on Sunday afternoon, in part for a change of scenery, and she let out these little tiny gasps when the wind/rain came in beneath her car seat cover, so running with her outside was just out the question. Ah well. This morning, the weather was just as bad, and we had various appointments to contend with through the mid-afternoon. Luckily the weather improved as the day went on, and I finally got out at 4:30, right before Nate, Shannon and Finley came over for dinner, for a quick three miler. I did the short Highland Green loop, with the wind whipping around and the temperature reading almost 50. Felt good, and was glad to have at least been able to sneak a short run into the day!

In other news, I have been remiss in mentioning that Sam is now over 5 months old! Wow!

Cutie pie :-)

She is turning into a real live little person :-) She has been rolling over like crazy, and when we sit her up, she can stay that way unassisted for 5 to 10 seconds at a time. She is smiling more, laughing more, making lots of noises and sticking out her tongue. She has taken to watching us intently when we eat and drink, so I think once she hits 6 months, she will definitely be ready to try solids! We've really been enjoying her - she is a super content and happy baby, and very energetic. I do wish she would sleep a bit more, but I know she is just so excited about the world around her and doesn't want to miss anything!

She will be starting daycare on April 1st, and today, one of our appointments was visiting with the daycare center again to talk with the teachers and spend a little time in the infant room. Sam was very happy while we were there, and sat with one of the teachers on the floor, watching the other babies and smiling at the adults as we chatted away about things. I know it will be tough to leave her that first day, but I think she is going to do just fine and really enjoy being there!

She's getting so big! Next year it won't even matter what the weather is; You'll both be able to get out - especially if she sleeps on runs - just pull the blanket up and she'll stay toasty.
