Busy Week

It's been a busy week.

Sunday, Ryan took off early to get in an UXBBA (all three dirt courses together) run at Bradbury while Sam and I headed over to Anne's for the morning. The girls had fun playing and enjoying one of the last days of summer before school starts. I mean, who doesn't like to dump cold buckets of water over their head on a Sunday morning? ;)

Later that afternoon, we headed up to Waldoboro for dinner with Keri, Tyler and family. Once again, Sam had some fun playtime, we all enjoyed yummy pizza from their outdoor pizza oven and the guys talked details about John's upcoming 100. It was a long day and none of us got into bed until close to 10:00.

I took my time getting up in the morning, but as it was a holiday, I couldn't let the day go by without getting out for a run. I headed over to Brunswick and ran out through the Commons and Coleman Farm. On the return trip, as I had just entered the Commons, I ran into Shannon. What a fun surprise, and a treat to run into a friend out on the trails! She turned around and ran back to Bowdoin with me; it was fun to share a few miles with her! Got in a nice 9 miles and headed home to find everyone had just woken up ;)

Unfortunately, Sam had gotten a cold over vacation and ever so nicely passed it along to us. I seemed to be holding up fairly well, but Ryan was not doing well on Monday. I ran a few errands around lunchtime, but otherwise, we spent the day relaxing and Ryan and Sam didn't move much from the couch. It was a much needed rest day for them.

Tuesday, it was back to school and off to 2nd grade for Sam! She was very excited to return to the classroom and see all her friends. As she said, I love school! :) And so it was that she was off, wearing a backpack as big as her whole body ;)

I hadn't run on Tuesday so even though I was feeling a bit under the weather on Wednesday morning and didn't manage to get up as early as I had hoped, I got out for a few miles around the neighborhood. It was warm and muggy, a low fog hanging in the air. Ran an uneventful 4 miles and called it good.

Thursday, I got up and out on the cart paths, cutting off holes 1 and 2 for a mellow 5 miles. Once again, it was 70 degrees at 6:00 am, 96% humidity, foggy, muggy, heavy. Ugh. I am looking forward to fall, for sure!

Tomorrow is the TARC Fall Classic down in MA. Both Ryan and I are signed up for the 50k. With the cold this week, I don't feel like I'm going in 100% but it will be a good training run and fun to explore some new trails!

Enjoy, TARC D! No matter what, you'll be out doing what you love to do!
