Summertime!: Week #8

A full week of work but also some fun for Sam and a nice afternoon visit with Irene and Dana over the weekend. So good to see them in person! 💗

Monday: Crazy busy work day for me. I pretty much sat at the computer and/or was on the phone all day for 10 hours straight. No run, no walk, nothing.

Tuesday: Up early for a run on the cart paths. Heavy air, heavy legs. The blackberries are ripening though, and yum, they are delish! (6.1 miles)
Went into the office for the day and then dragged Sam out for a walk when I got home. Ha! We meandered along and picked a whole lot of blackberries to eat. So good! (1.9 miles walked)

Wednesday: Had to drop the car off for service, so did that bright and early and started from there. Ran roads around town. Legs still a bit clunky but a nice, if rather muggy, morning to be out. (6.0 miles)
Thursday: Sam spent the day out at the Point with Anne and family while Ryan and I worked. I think she got the better end of the deal! Thanks so much to Phil and Kristen for having her out. She had a blast in the pool, on the beach, in the boat! And I love seeing these images of the kiddos together 💗

Friday: Headed over to the Brad in the morning to meet up with Anne, Val and Mindy for a run. Hit the farmer's market on the way and then got in a few extra miles before looping back to the parking lot to meet up with them. 3 miles solo and 6 with friends. It was great to catch up! Beautiful day, and a lot of people out enjoying it. (9.0 miles)

Ran a few errands and did some house cleaning and then Sam and I got out late in the afternoon for some fresh air. She wanted to bike so we headed across the street to the high school loop. I sent her on a few additional little offshoots along the way so that I wouldn't constantly be trailing behind as I walked along! 😂 (1.7 miles walked)

Saturday: Saturday group runs returned this week for TMR, and Ryan was in charge of this week's route, so I was up early to get in my miles before the group convened for a run along the powerlines and out on the Gone Fishing trails. Felt a little off initially but at least my legs felt a bit snappier than earlier in the week. Ran the roads around town while listening to podcasts. Pretty morning but very humid. (9.0 miles)
Once I got home, Ryan headed out, and I did a few things around the house while Sam slept until almost 10:00 am! She wasn't super excited but shortly thereafter I rallied her to get out the door for a short walk across the street to pick blackberries and meet up with the run crew. Oh my goodness, some of these blackberries were so big and sweet and delicious. It surely seems to be a banner season for them! So good. And fun to have a chance to say hi to those who came up and joined in on the TMR Topsham run too. (1.4 miles walked)
We've been trying to figure out a time to get down and see Irene and Dana. It's complicated with this whole Covid thing as the plan was for an outside, appropriately socially distanced gathering, and it's been so hot we all knew we wouldn't last long on the deck sweltering in the sun, so it had to be just the right day. We've been keeping an eye on the weather, and Saturday looked like it might work, both with our schedule and weather-wise, so after lunch we loaded into the car and headed south.

It turned out to be a lovely day for it, not too hot, nice and shady on the deck, no bugs, a little breeze, and so nice to sit and chat and eat dinner together with Irene and Dana in person 💗 So glad it worked out!
Sunday: A fair amount of items on the to-do list today but first up was a long run! Headed out around 6:40 am and decided to check and see if the Cathance trails were open. I know they were saying "soon," and sure enough, there was no 'trail closed' sign at the main trailhead, even if the parking areas were still roped off, so I took it as a sign that it would be OK to get onto the trails. Nice to run along the river again! Ran the trails out to Head of Tides and then took the road back to the junction along Rt. 24 with the powerlines and looped around out there before heading home. Didn't feel super energetic so happy to get in the miles. A lot of berry stops because the season is short and one should never pass up trailside snacks! 😀 Two groundhogs, three deer, one pileated woodpecker and one osprey seen. I finished up very soggy! 💦💦 Cooler out but still quite humid. (15.0 miles)

Rest of the day was spent cooking, packing and doing a few errands in prep for our next camping trip. Back up to Somes Sound but this time with Keri, Tyler and Elise! Sam is so excited and it will be fun to spend a few days with friends. We are all looking forward to it! 😀
