Glass Half Empty

These New Yorker cartoons sum up how I'm feeling these days... I really am a glass is half full kind of person, but honestly with the news and the weather, the outlook has been a bit less cheery. Add in work being very busy this week and Sam being sick, again, and well, you know... Of course, there are always bright spots, which this week included a Friday run with friends and a trip to DQ with Sam, plus the first of the season trailing arbutus in bloom. Just gotta keep looking for those bright spots. Oh yes, and truly, F him.

This was yet another week of running starting on Wednesday 😛 Did get out for a walk around the school block with Ryan late on Tuesday afternoon but it was rainy and gross, so we kept it short. (1.7 miles walked)

Rain turned to snow and so Wednesday morning's run on the cart paths was cold, windy and icy. Two deer and one bald eagle seen. (6.3 miles)

Thursday was a late afternoon run after Sam and I did some driving practice and got a few errands completed in the process. Ran down to the river and back. Bright and windy, with "my" patch of trailing arbutus finally in bloom 💗🌸 (6.3 miles)

Haven't managed to get in a run with the ladies in a long while, so it was wonderful to see Anne, Val and Mindy on Friday at Brad for a run. So fun to catch up ❤️ Trails in pretty good shape all things considered. And the rain stopped before we started so that’s a win. And the weather dreariness was so much less evident when running with friends! (6.0 miles)

After school, Sam and I stopped for DQ on the way home. Way too cold to eat it outside but it's always fun to get the first DQ of the season! 😋🍦

Another crappy weather weekend... this is my least favorite kind of weather, low 30s and rain. Ugh! Just not motivating at all. Finally got out a little before 3:00 on Saturday for an uninspired road run. Total slog. Managed to will myself to get to 9 but that was just all the energy I had. (9.0 miles)

The rain and dreariness continued on Sunday and I needed to finish up some reporting for work so got that done in the morning, helped with the house cleaning and then finally got myself out the door around 1:00. Flat out just.did.not.want. Nasty out there. I need some sunshine, seriously! Nothing like a run in wind-driven hail and rain 🤪😩 Trails were quite water logged. But got it done. (12.6 miles)
