Start of July

Monday evening we met up with Irene and Dana in Portland for dinner. We hadn't seen them since swim season (!) so it was great to catch up in person, enjoy some nice food and drinks, and then extend the evening a bit with a walk down the street for ice cream! ๐Ÿ’—

Tuesday was an evening walk after dinner around the school block with Ryan. Warm and humid, even at 6:30 in the evening. (2.6 miles walked)

Worked from home on Wednesday for the first time in a while, so did a bit of work early and then headed out around 7:15 for a run up along the edge of the Heath before taking Sam up to swim for 9:30. So soggy. So heavy. But, first blueberries of the season! Yum! (6.0 miles)

Thursday was a morning run on the roads around town. Very sweaty and soggy with a 6:20 am start before work. (6.0 miles)

Then after work, we headed down to Erica's with Mom and Dad for an early dinner and beat both the crowds and the rain. It was a pretty evening to sit outside and enjoy some good fried food, and then we caught a double rainbow on our way to get ice cream on the way home. ๐ŸŒˆ

Friday was the 4th of July and after a quick trip to the grocery store and farmer's market, I headed over to Bradbury to meet up with Val and Mindy. Fun to catch up with them and a beautiful morning for it! Dry, bright and breezy with no humidity or bugs! Yay. (6.6 miles)

We had a quiet rest of the day and joined Mom and Dad for a yummy grilled chicken, corn and pasta salad dinner and strawberry shortcake. Very summery and delish!

Saturday, I headed out on the powerlines around 9:30. Ripe blueberries๐Ÿซ, wood lilies and lily pads ๐Ÿชท, sweat, warm temps, bright sunshine ☀️, the sweet scent of milkweed and hay scented ferns ๐ŸŒฟ, more sweating ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿฅต (10.0 miles)

Wrapped up the week with some miles out through the Cathance to Head of Tides and back via the roads on Sunday morning. Headed out around 8:50am and it warmed up quite a bit while I was out there. Ah summer running. Bugs, sweat, warm and gooey air, not bringing enough water and feeling the heat ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ’ฆ Multiple stops for blueberries in the last few miles. Hit 1000 miles for the year a few miles in the run today (7/6/25). In 2019 when I was training for Western States, I hit 1,000 miles on June 7; 2020, when there was no racing and I was just running, it was June 12; no idea in 2021, apparently I did not document it on Strava or my blog; in 2022, it was June 23; 2023, the 1,000 mile date was June 18; and last year with my injury, I noted that I hit 1,000 miles the 2nd week of September. So definitely doing better than last year but certainly not quite as focused as prior years. Oh well. I have nothing on my calendar so I most definitely have not felt as compelled to do higher mileage weeks. Still hoping I can ramp it up just a notch to get over 2,000 for the year though. (11.4 miles)

And to wrap up last month:

June:
156.41 miles run
13.96 miles walked
0.00 miles xc skiied
3x weights

YTD:
970.11 miles run
74.55 miles walked
3.34 miles xc skiied
19x weights
