Thanksgiving Week

The week started off with an indoor track walk on Monday night. I wish I could have gotten outside to walk in the daylight, and there was a glorious sunset on view on the ride up to the Y, but the indoor track at least allows for some movement, even if it is in circles 😉 (2.2 miles walked)

Busy trying to wrap things up at work on Tuesday and didn't want to go out in the cold morning darkness either, so no running it was.

Wednesday, I got up early to get in my run before we headed south for Thanksgiving. Ran the cart paths. Hit 2,000 miles for the year somewhere midway through the run. It would have been much more glamorous if I'd hit it during or at the end of Hamsterwheel, but I suppose hitting it during a random weekday cart path run is much more appropriate anyway. Earliest I've hit 2,000 yet (this year 11/24, last year was 11/28, 12/7 in 2019, 12/9 in 2018 and 12/31 in 2017), but not sure if I'll be able to equal last year's total mileage of 2,200. Will have to see how the continued recovery goes. (5.0 miles)

Fairly easy drive down to MA, and everyone was happy to have the chance to be together this year for Thanksgiving! Thanks, science!!

The rest of the afternoon was spent cooking pies, prepping veggies and the turkey, getting the kids outside for some playtime, doing some crafts and just generally trying to keep the chaos to a minimum! 😂😂

So cute 😍

Thursday morning, Ryan and I got out for a road run together, which was a nice treat! Ran the Weldon Farm loop. A nice mellow few miles before we sat down to eat all.the.things. (5.0 miles)

The rest of the day was pretty much eat, drink, repeat 😆 😋 And everything was delish!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday was forecast to rain all day but although it was quite dreary when I finally got up and headed upstairs for breakfast and coffee, it wasn't quite raining yet, so after a piece of apple pie (the only appropriate post-Thanksgiving day breakfast!), I headed out for a run. I figured if I was going to be stuck inside with everyone all day, getting out would be a good idea! 😉😆 Ran out through the marshes, always my favorite place to road run from Irene and Dana's. Definitely overdressed - it was much balmier than expected - but felt good. (7.0 miles)

Lots of games, monster trucks, silliness and maybe a wee bit of craziness ensued in an attempt to keep the kids occupied during the rainy day.

And after lunch, when there was a break in the rain, we quickly bundled everyone up and got outside for a walk to get some energy out! (1.2 miles walked))

Crazy how much all the kids have grown since we last saw them for Christmas 2019! Wow!

It was a lot of fun to be able to spend the holiday with Irene, Dana, Meg, Chris and the boys, and we are very grateful, especially after the past 20 months, to be able to do so 💗

We headed back home mid-morning on Saturday, and after a quick unpacking and lunch, we headed across the street for a walk. We had gotten snow overnight, and it was blustery and cold, but it was good to get out, and always fun to enjoy the first snow the season! (2.3 miles walked)

Had a bit of a lazy morning on Saturday, getting up fairly early with the cats but taking it easy in the morning, drinking my coffee, paying some bills and getting caught up on the computer, doing my exercises and stretches and then finally getting out the door at 9:00 for a run! Bright and cold with snow crunching underfoot and a fair amount of tiptoeing on the ice along the shaded sections of the powerlines. Ran out on the Lover's Lane loop. Trails were in better shape in the woods with less snow and ice. Happened upon Ted and Ian running so ran a short stretch with them too - a fun chance encounter! (7.0 miles)

Then it was on to cooking up some bacon for tomorrow night's pizza, making chocolate chip bars (Ryan's request), plus heading up to Six River to the farm stand, roasting some beets for salad, getting the dough going for rolls and starting in on the soup for dinner, and then finally sat down for a few minutes 😜 before Dad came over to join us for a late afternoon walk. The sun had disappeared behind a thick bank of clouds and brrr, it sure was chilly, but nice to get out and chat with Dad. Mom had a headache so stayed at home in bed 😢 (1.7 miles walked)

Then home for an early dinner, with leftovers packed up for Dad to take back to Mom, and a bit of relaxing and organization for the upcoming week! I'm tired now 😂😂
