Catching Up

Tuesday, I headed out a bit after 6:00 am for a road run. My back was tight, probably from sitting on the couch and working on my computer for 3 hours on Sunday afternoon (damn, when did I get so old?!), but it was a nice morning to be out. (8.0 miles)

Sam and Abby were out on at the Point with Anne on Tuesday night. Love that have kept this friendship all these years 💗💗

Wednesday, I was up and out again at 6:00 am for a run on the cart paths. Very heavy out. Berries out on the powerlines and the globe thistle in bloom in the garden bed. (8.0 miles)

Thursday was an evening work event, so it was another morning run. Got out around 6:50 am for a run, mostly on the roads.Very heavy out. Ugh, this humidity is the worst! 💦💦 (7.0 miles)

Friday, we headed to VT for a tour at UVM and the weekend in Burlington. Which meant yet another early morning run. Ran the cart paths. Ooheey gooey. Ugh. (7.0 miles)

After a fairly easy drive over to the green hills of Vermont, we stopped for a quick lunch before our UVM tour. Very nice campus, flowing right down into the edge of Burlington. the official tour took us through the main campus (0.9 miles walked) and then we took our own walk up to check out the pool (1.24 miles walked). Warm.

We checked into our hotel and then wandered out to a delicious dinner at Pizzeria Veritas, where we sat at the pizza bar and watched the crew make pizza and chatted with them. So good! After that, we wandered down to the edge of the lake to enjoy the early evening light.

Saturday, we had a yummy breakfast at Friendly Toast and then wandered around on Church Street, doing some shopping and having poke for lunch, before walking down to the bike path along the lake and taking a walk. It was crazy hot though, so we stopped en route for a drink, before continuing back to the hotel to chill for a bit before dinner. (1.5 miles partial walk for the day) Burlington is a cool town!

Sunday morning, I got up for a run along the bike path. Very very heavy out there. I was dripping within a mile! Ran a few miles out and then veered off to Rock Point to do a trail loop out along the rock edge up above the lake and then dropped down to run along the beach before coming back on the path. Very quiet bike path and very rooty trails. (6.0 miles)

After a quick breakfast, we headed up the highway and stopped at Ben & Jerry's for a factory tour and ice cream before lunch! Fun!

Tuesday, August 4th, was an afternoon run down to Topsham Crossing. Warm and breezy with one blackberry stop. (6.0 miles)

Wednesday was a 5:00 pm walk around the school block. (2.0 miles walked)

Thursday was an early morning, heavy on all fronts run on the Topsham Crossing lollypop before we headed out on another round of college tours. (6.0 miles)

This week's drive, while pretty much the same time spent driving as up to Burlington, was not as pleasant, as it was down to Fairfield University, and there was a whole load of traffic. Ugh! The tour of Fairifeld was nice and we all liked the campus, which had a lot of new buildings. Too bad I forgot to turn on my watch but it was a big spread out campus. but then we got back in the car and drove up to Newton through even more traffic to our hotel for the night. Whew!

Had a lovely meal back at the same cute italian place in Waltham that we'd eaten at in April and then all collapsed in bed.

Friday morning, I got up and ran from the hotel. Some trail, some road, some paved path along the Charles River Reservation. Pretty and a very nice resource but so insanely humid that I was soaked by mile 1 and my energy was just sapped. Bleh. 💦🥵 (6.0 miles)

After breakfast, we headed up to BC for a tour. Very pretty campus. And also, very very hot. (0.8 miles walked) Then we drove back to Brandeis to do a self tour. We went there in April as one of the first schools we visited and Sam wanted another chance to check it out and confirm it to still be on her list. ✔️ Also still way too hot 🤪🥵 (1.66 miles walked) Then into more traffic to get up to Irene and Dana's for dinner.

Saturday morning, I was up while the rest of the house slept and headed out at 7:00 am for a road run through Weldon Farm and Fatherland. Cooler but so heavy and still. One bunny seen, plus a whole lot of sweat! (8.0 miles)

It was so hot that we stayed inside all day, relaxing and chatting, before heading into Newburyport for dinner before we headed home. It was nice to spend some time with Irene and Dana and catch up!

Sunday, I volunteered at Bradbury for the Bruiser. I’m an idiot, which by now should be well established 🤪 and as I didn’t sleep well and was tired from the prior few days, I just not get myself out the door to run volunteering. So that meant an afternoon run in feels like 95 degree heat. 🥵🤷‍♀️😬💦 Ran a bit less than originally planned but hey at least I got out there for a few miles! The Heath was awash in cotton sedge and broadleaf arrowhead. Lovely. Also the viburnum already turning blush colored out on the Powerlines. (6.0 miles)

Ryan was away Monday through Wednesday down in NJ for work. Tuesday, Sam headed to the fair with Lauren and Rohan and I headed to Mom and Dad's for dinner with them and Kristen after work. then it was home for an after dinner walk around the school block. Nice evening. (2.0 miles walked)

Wednesay was a 4:00 pm run to the river and back. Nice out. (6.2 miles)

Thursday was an afternoon run on the Topsham Crossing lollypop (6.0 miles) and Sam headed to the fair for another evening, this time with Abby, Anne and Ava.

Friday, I spent too much of the day doing errands and getting things crossed off my list, plus doing a bit of work including spending two hours at the T-Mobile store getting work cell phones sorted out, which was insanely frustrating, so I didn't get out for a run until around 4:00 pm. Bright and breezy. Last of the low bush blueberries and raspberries were found but the blackberries are still going strong. And in the yard the ironweed is in bloom! (7.0 miles)

Ryan headed to Michigan on Saturday morning, and after a bit of reading on the couch, I headed out for a run around town a little before 9:00 am. Not feeling super energetic but nice to be out, and not as hot as it has been, which was a lovely change. (9.1 miles)

Then after lunch, Kristen and Cutter picked me up and we headed to Wolfe's Neck for a walk. Lovely afternoo! Also very busy in the park, but we had a nice time catching up as we walked along and Cutter seemed to have a good time and was very well behaved. (1.47 miles walked)

Sunday, I got out around 7:00 am for a trail run up along the Heath and out on the powerlines before Sam and I headed out school shoppping. Nice morning. (12.0 miles)

We hit Freeport first, and had some yummy dumplings and noodles in the shade at one of the roadside stalls, then headed down to the mall. Very busy there with a lot of mothers and daughters doing the same thing, and all of us moms lined up waiting for the girls to try on all their clothes in every store 😂 But always fun to hang with the kiddo, even if I find shopping more tiring than running long! 😉

Here are the July stats:

185.09 miles run
9.07 miles walked
0 miles xc skiied
4x weights

YTD:
