Still solidly in winter here... it's been cold, the snow remains sugary, TMR had its first true snowshoe race since COVID, and my runs remain solidly in Highland Green all.the.time mode 😜
My run week started on Wednesday with a 9:00 am run through Highland Green before 5 hours of back to back meetings. Gotta love it! Screwshoes necessary in some spots and totally unnecessary in others. (6.0 miles)
Thursday was a 2:00 pm run once again through Highland Green. Breezy but warmer and sunny. Nice to wear the road shoes on the pavement without fear of slipping!!! (6.0 miles)
Then it was off to the Y to cheer on Sam and her team at KVACs! 🏊♀️ Sam had a great meet, getting a big PR in the 100 fly and hitting the States qualifying mark in the 500 free, making for a very happy kiddo and family! Way to go, Sam!
Goofy girls 😆😆
Friday, I got some work and errands done and then finally headed out for a run at 3:00, yet again in Highland Green. Nice out. (8.0 miles)
Broke from the mold on Saturday morning and headed out with spikes in hand onto the powerlines at 10:00 am. Nice morning, no wind, decent temps. Trails were more sugary and loose than I was expecting, with just not quite enough traffic to pack things down, so slow going but nice to be out. (10.2 miles)
Sunday, Ryan and I headed to Bradbury in the morning. Me to volunteer and him to run. First snowshoe race in a long while. It was a lovely morning, and always good to catch up with everyone! I didn't get up and out before we left the house at 8:40 for a run, so that means an afternoon run on the Highland Green roads. Nice afternoon with cool rainbow section/sun dog seen through the clouds. (10.0 miles)
Happy to hit 40 miles for the week and hope I can keep up the momentum as we head into the longer and brighter days of late winter!
