9th grade! I mean, how did we get here?!?! Wow. It is exciting and also a little bit crazy and anxiety-producing to have a high schooler. I know, I know, I've said it before but I'll say it again, time flies.
School started for just the freshmen on Monday with an orientation day. A nice way to ease into the year with a new school, new schedule, and the new vibe of being a high schooler.
We all have to get back into the swing of the school routine, but we managed to get out the door on time this week, and while tired, Sam has been reasonably cheery and happy to talk about her days, so we are going to call it a win for the first week! π
On the running front, I took it pretty easy, taking Monday and Tuesday off from running, although Ryan and I did get out for a walk before dinner on Tuesday. A nice afternoon and good to get in some movement. (1.7 miles walked)
Worked at home on Wednesday and headed out for a run around 10:30. It was heavy and humid and had been drizzling on and off, but when I first stepped out the door it seemed like I was going to have a window where I might not get wet (with rain, at least!). Well, that didn't last too long. After about 2 miles, it started downpouring, and there's nothing like being out in the middle of the woods while thunder cracks overhead! π±On the way back, the powerlines had turned into a literal river. So much rain. So very soaked! π¦π(7.0 miles) (All photos taken before the downpour π)
Got in road run around Weldon Farm and Fatherland on Saturday morning before we headed home. (7.0 miles) It was a fun visit with the family, although I think we were all happy to have a bit of quiet once we got back. That xrazy boy energy is real ππ
Had a bit of a lazy morning on Sunday, as all that was on the docket was running, grocery shopping and a trip to the farm stand. Finally headed out around 9:30 for a run out in the Cathance. Lots of mushrooms, and a fair amount of scratchy long grass, although to be fair, I did take a few of the old, now unmaintained and getting overgrown trails out there, and was excited to find a small patch of cardinal flowers out on one of the little islands in the middle of the stream too. Nice, warm, sunny morning. (8.0 miles)
