August always has a different feel. It's fully summer, but the days start to get shorter and there's always the knowledge that the school year is just around the corner and how has the time passed so quickly?!
Monday was a rest day as we all settled back in after our Baxter camping trip. Sam headed out to the Point on Tuesday morning for 24 hours to hang out with Anne, and as Ryan and I didn't have any plans for the evening after work, I headed out for an afternoon run on the powerlines. Lovely out. Blackberries are out, and found some good muddy puddles. Also some arrowroot - neat. (7.0 miles)
Had a few morning meetings on Thursday, so went into the office until 1:00 then did a few errands on the way home, did a quick clean and Ryan and I headed out for a short walk before we headed south to Irene and Dana's. Nice breeze and some pretty thistle along the roadside. (1.7 miles walked)
Ryan and Dana got in 9 holes of golf after lunch and didn't get rained on or thunderstormed out, and then we picked up Agave for dinner. Always a treat to get good Mexican food, but I will admit that my stomach might not have appreciated it as much as I did ðð and once again, I did not sleep great, so I was kind of dragging when I headed out early to drive over to run in the woods for a few hours. Decided to park at Vineyard Hill and connect over to the Bradley Palmer via the Greenway trails from there. It was a good change of pace, and it was nice to add some different trails to my route.
Cool temps to start but high dew point and very humid. Alo pretty grassy and scratch which is certainly to be expected in August, plus so many bugs! Ah, summer ðĪŠðąðĶ Didn’t feel super energetic but just chugged along. I ran over to Bradley Palmer and ran up and over Moon Hill and around before looped back to the car at 9 miles in, and then up the Vineyard Hill loop before reversing and going back up the other side. A fair amount of walking on the hills there. Ha! Then I looped over on the other side of the street where an old road went down to two neat views out onto the river, before I headed back into the woods and back to Bradley Palmer for some more looping and another time up Moon Hill before heading back to the car. (20.1 miles)
