Lots of deer, berries, deerflies and high humidity this week. The sunrise has been getting ever so slightly later and later as well as we creep towards August; it is just beginning to get light at 5:00 am with sunrises this week between 5:20 and 5:25 am.
Tuesday morning, it really truly would have been better if it had been raining. Instead it was right around 70 degrees, foggy, misty, muggy and 99.9% humidity. Ugh. I stuck to the cart paths for a very soggy six miles and managed to escape the deerflies that way. Saw one deer along the back dirt road as I was crossing between holes 6 and 7.
Wednesday morning dawned a bit cooler but the weather app still indicated 90+% humidity. I ran out into the Cathance for yet another soggy morning run. The deer flies were out just enough to be annoying, but I did see two deer and found some delicious blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to eat along the way. Got in 7 miles to start the day.
This morning I ran out to the end of the powerlines and then did the Lover's Lane loop for 8 miles. It was a five deer (including two fawns with their mama!), blueberry/blackberry/raspberry picking, wood lilies in the misty meadow, sweet fern smelling kind of run this morning. Really pretty and quite nice. Of course, I was also almost carried away by a horde of angry deer flies and finished up the run, once again, soaked due to high humidity.
Oh summer, it's a fine line between love and hate.
